Homeless Man Pulls Drowning Boy Out of River, His Mother Shouts at Man Instead of Thanking Him

A homeless man pulled a drowning boy out of a river, and instead of thanking him, his mother started yelling at the man 😨😨

The November wind cut into the skin, lifting a damp, piercing cold from the river. In the yard, between the peeling concrete garages, a five-year-old boy played. His mother stood a little to the side, holding the phone to her ear and laughing at her friend’s jokes.

The boy came closer to the cliff by the river while his mother was busy. The water was turbid and rough that day – the current had increased due to recent rains. One wrong step and the boy flew into the water screaming, his heavy jacket immediately pulling him down.

The mother didn’t notice anything. She continued talking on the phone, only casting absentminded glances around.

The boy tried to get out, but the current pulled him away from the shore. He was choking, clutching at the cold air.

At that moment, a man appeared on the other bank who usually caused only contempt among the locals – a thin, unkempt man, everyone simply called him “Erlich”. A homeless person who lived in an abandoned house nearby.

He heard a child’s scream and without a second thought he rushed into the icy water, in his dirty clothes. The water hit his legs, trying to knock him off his feet, but he did not stop until he reached the boy and grabbed him by the collar.

The baby was sobbing, pale and trembling. Erlich pulled him ashore and wrapped him in his tattered cloak.

When he brought the child back to the house, the mother finally noticed them and screamed:

– Did you touch my son? You bastard!

– He was drowning…

— It would be better if he drowned than fell into your dirty hands!

Erlich looked at her with bewilderment. He was offended, but more than that, he was afraid for the boy. Seeing this woman yelling at him without even rushing to check if her son was alive seemed impossible.

And then Ehrlich did something very unexpected, but fair… 😨

He made an unexpected decision: he pressed the boy to himself again and turned around abruptly.

“Hey! Give him back!” the woman screamed, but did not dare to approach.

Erlich calmly left the house, approached the house where an elderly neighbor, a kind and attentive woman, lived, and knocked on her door.

“Help the boy,” he said, out of breath. “Call the police. His mother almost killed him, we saw it.”

The neighbor immediately dialed the number. People in uniform arrived and took away the mother, who continued to shout insults. Erlich told everything as it happened, without hiding anything.

After the investigation, the mother was deprived of parental rights. The boy temporarily stayed with a neighbor, and then he was placed in a foster family.

And Erlich disappeared – no one saw him in the yard again. Only months later did someone remember that it was he who saved the life of a child who might have been even more unlucky if he had stayed with such a mother.
