Gina and Craig Dewdney had no idea that their lives were about to change forever. At their first ultrasound, they were expecting twins – but a third head appeared before the doctors’ eyes! The boys – Jackson, Jensen, and Jimmy – turned out to be identical triplets, which happens with a probability of 1 in 200 million.
The pregnancy was extremely risky: all three shared the same placenta, and one baby was born inside the amniotic sac, a rare occurrence that usually reduces the chances of survival. But Gina and Craig remained hopeful.
The baby was born prematurely, at 31 weeks. At Liverpool Women’s Hospital, 30 specialists coordinated the operation to ensure each baby was cared for individually. Within two minutes, all three boys were born, healthy and strong despite the challenges.
After six weeks of close monitoring, doctors finally allowed the triplets to go home. By six months, Jackson, Jensen, and Jimmy were growing up healthy, already showing personalities and individuality despite their genetic identities.
Gina herself suspected from the very beginning that she was carrying unusual twins: severe migraines, insomnia and vision problems hinted at an unusual pregnancy. And her intuition turned out to be correct – now the parents are faced with a miracle that is almost impossible to repeat.
