Katie Slaton, cousin of 1000-Lb. Sisters stars Tammy and Amy Slaton, has passed away at 37 following a fight with cancer.

Katie, who occasionally appeared on the TLC reality series, was diagnosed earlier this year with stage 4 gastric adenocarcinoma, a rare stomach cancer.

Her cousin Amanda Halterman shared the heartbreaking news on social media, writing: “It is with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday. She was a force to be reckoned with, full of love, and the life of the party. She was also my best friend.”

Amanda added that she takes comfort in knowing Katie was welcomed home by their grandparents and friends, while asking for prayers for Katie’s parents, children, and longtime partner Natalie.

According to Whitsell Funeral Home in Kentucky, Katie passed away at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. She is remembered for her love of fishing, music, and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her parents, Jerry and Frances Slaton; her brothers, Jeremiah and Jesse; her children, Landon, Liam, and Lily; and her partner, Natalie Gerrick Bailie, along with her cousins Tammy, Amy, and Amanda.

Though not a regular cast member, Katie left a mark on 1000-Lb. Sisters, including during Tammy’s powerful season 5 return from rehab.
