I returned home after two months of absence and met a woman in my own home 😱
Two months. That’s the time I spent away from home, between the hospital and caring for my mother after her surgery. I needed to come home. My bedding, my plants, and my husband, Michael, I missed so much.
He called me often, sent me messages, assuring me every evening: “When you come back, everything will be perfect.” I didn’t really believe it, but I appreciated his efforts.
And so, when I finally returned home, dropped off my bags and felt the calm of home, I experienced deep inner peace.
I took a shower, put on a robe, and drank a glass of wine. Then I heard the key turn in the door.
Michael? But… I didn’t hear the sound of his car.
The door opened, and to my great surprise, a woman I’d never seen before walking in. She was about thirty, confident, stylish, and holding keys that looked like mine.
She froze. I did too.
“Can I help you?” I asked, blinking.
She raised an eyebrow. “Actually, I was going to ask you the same question.”
“I live here,” I said slowly. “And you?”
She raised her eyebrows in surprise. “Michael told me I could come whenever I wanted.”
The air in the room instantly changed. My heart stopped for a moment.
“Michael, my… husband?”
She laughed awkwardly. “No, he said he was single.”
We looked at each other for a few seconds. Then she looked at the keys in her hand. “I think I need to…”
“Wait,” I said, out of breath. “You need to see something first.”
I took her to the kitchen.
Michael was sitting there, eating cereal. In MY robe.
“Who is this?” he asked, looking surprised.
Before I could answer, the other woman narrowed her eyes and said coldly, “That’s not Michael.”
I looked at her. Then at him.
“…Sorry?”
Michael blinked.
And then… everything began to unravel.

When we got to the kitchen, the truth came out. The woman, still in shock, pulled out her phone and showed me a photo of “Michael” on a dating app.
But the man on the screen wasn’t Michael, but Nick, his younger brother, known for his irresponsible behavior. He’d assumed his brother’s identity, using their apartment as a meeting place for his adventures, while simultaneously deceiving this woman, Sonya, who thought he was single.
The misunderstanding was quickly cleared up and Nick was exposed.

Michael, at first surprised, realized the deception, and together with Sonya they came up with a little plan for revenge.
When Nick arrived for “dinner,” he found Sonya ready to meet him face to face.
It was a moment of bittersweet comedy, with public humiliation and unexpected consequences, but also the beginning of a new friendship between Sonya and me, marked by an epic dinner and laughter.
