My wife’s health problems surfaced unexpectedly. She first became ill at home, and at the hospital, the doctors delivered a dire verdict:
“Your wife’s kidneys are failing. She needs a transplant, and the sooner the better.”
At times like these, finding a donor is nearly impossible. My husband had no doubts and insisted on testing him.
The tests showed a complete match.
“It’s a risk for you,” the surgeon warned.
“She’s my wife. I’ll do everything,” the husband replied firmly.
The operation was a success. He woke up with a heaviness in his body, but a lightness in his soul: his beloved would live.
However, a couple of days later she came to his room, avoiding his gaze.
– I have to tell you… I don’t love you anymore. I have someone else. I want a divorce.
He could hardly believe his ears.
—Are you serious? I just gave you a kidney, a part of me! Why are you only telling me this now?
“I wouldn’t have survived without you. But now I have a new life, and you’re not part of it.”
These words hit harder than any pain. Her husband realized that her feelings had long since cooled, and the operation itself had become just a way to survive.
And then something broke inside him. The husband didn’t know how to go on, so he decided his ex-wife should answer for her betrayal. 😢😨 And that’s what he did.
A few weeks later, he collected all the receipts, documents, and invoices. A lawyer helped him file a claim for reimbursement of expenses. The court upheld his claim: she was ordered to pay a huge sum—tens of thousands of dollars—that she didn’t have.
Debt collectors started knocking on the door. Her lover answered, but soon, realizing the scale of the problem, he fled.
To at least partially cover the debt, his wife had to sell their house. The woman for whom he had sacrificed his health was left on the street, betrayed and forgotten.
One day he saw her near the court – faded, exhausted, with eyes full of despair.
“Why did you do this to me?” she whispered.
He answered quietly but firmly:
“I gave you life. And you gave me betrayal. Now you pay for it.”
And he left without looking back.
