Police dispatchers are used to receiving strange — and sometimes downright absurd — calls, but a 4-year-old boy from New Zealand delivered what may be the sweetest emergency call ever recorded. The child dialed the police simply to politely ask if an officer could come over and admire his “awesome toys.”
To everyone’s delight, the police decided to match his innocence with kindness. Less than an hour after the call, an officer was officially dispatched to pay the little boy a visit and personally inspect his toy collection. Constable Kurt from the Southern District Police was the one who responded, eager to see whether the child’s toys were truly as impressive as he claimed.

The two even posed for a photo together — a moment later shared on the New Zealand Police Facebook page. The department also chose to release the adorable audio of the call, saying it was simply “too precious not to share.”
The recording begins with the dispatcher answering, “This is the police — what’s the emergency?” A tiny voice responds shyly: “Hi… Is this the police lady? I want to tell you something… I’ve got some toys for you.”
“You’ve got toys for me?” the dispatcher asks.
“Yep. Come over and see them,” the boy replies, completely serious.
A man then comes on the line, explaining that the child had picked up the phone while he was busy with another sibling, and that their mother was unwell — insisting the call was a misunderstanding.

But once the call ended, the dispatcher made a decision of her own. She radioed out a message saying, “We’ve got a 4-year-old here who wants to show police his toys. Anyone able to respond?” Immediately, an officer volunteered: “I’ll handle that.”
Constable Kurt later confirmed that the boy did indeed have some fantastic toys — and as a bonus, he even let the child explore his police car. “He really did have some cool stuff,” the officer said. “He also got to check out the patrol car, and I turned on the lights for him.”
