Bride Aimee Hume Simpson, 32, decided to include a bouquet toss during her wedding celebration on October 31 at The Lookout Lodge in Wanaka, New Zealand. Her maid of honor, Jas Bhela, also 32, quietly positioned herself a short distance away from the crowd of unmarried women gathered for the tradition.
Jas knew that if she caught the bouquet, her friends would make a huge fuss about it — something she was hoping to avoid. While the rest of the bachelorettes leaned forward in anticipation, eyes fixed on the bouquet, Jas stood back casually, clearly ready for the moment to pass.

With her back turned to the group, Aimee launched the bouquet high into the air. To everyone’s surprise, it landed directly in Jas’s path. Reacting instantly, Jas ducked and stepped aside just in time, narrowly missing the flowers.
According to Aimee, the sight sent the entire crowd into laughter. She didn’t realize what had happened in the moment, since she was facing the other direction. It wasn’t until days later — after someone showed her a video — that she saw the hilarious near-miss.
The couple was at dinner in Queenstown when Aimee watched the clip for the first time. She says they laughed nonstop, and the moment became a recurring joke for weeks after the wedding.
Because the scene was so funny, Aimee shared the video on TikTok on December 27. The clip quickly took off, earning around 850,000 views and more than 150,000 likes.
“When your maid of honor isn’t quite ready to be a bride,” Aimee wrote on the video, joking in the caption about how hard she threw the bouquet.
