We are sure that after this article you will no longer be able to perceive these films the same way.

The Newspaperman

In the scene where the hero is stung by a jellyfish, Nicole Kidman actually peed on Zac Efron. Director Lee Daniels told Vulture, “We just went with it and didn’t think twice because it made sense for the movie. It was what it was. I think I was even more nervous about it in the edit. I was like, ‘I’m not going to show that, am I? It’s gross?’ So I called Nicole for advice, and she was like, ‘Lee, you made me pee on Zac Efron. Now you try not to put that in the movie!'”

“Euphoria”

For the hot tub scene in the second season of Euphoria, a mix of CGI and real-world effects was used to create the appearance of Cassie vomiting everywhere. Sydney Sweeney recalled the shoot: “They attached a tube to my body that went directly into my mouth (later removed in post-production), and they pumped ‘vomit’ into it. During the scene, they filled my mouth, and when I opened it, the ‘vomit’ just started pouring out. It was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever experienced.”

The Wolf of Wall Street

For the scene where Jordan gives Donnie CPR, grease was used to glue the ham Donnie coughed up to Leonardo DiCaprio’s face.

Leo told The Ellen DeGeneres Show: “The biggest challenge that day was we had to do 70 takes because the ham wouldn’t stick to my face. So they had to apply jelly, and there was literally a guy standing off-camera with a plastic spoon who just kept throwing ham at my face all day while I was filming this crazy scene. It was one of the most surreal things I’ve ever done in my entire career.”

Game of Thrones

In the first season of Game of Thrones, there’s a scene where Daenerys eats a stallion’s heart. The prop was made of congealed jam, but Emilia Clarke admitted it tasted like bleach and raw pasta. During her takes, the actress had to eat about 28 hearts. Clarke admitted that the best part was that she didn’t have to feign disgust—it felt completely natural. She even vomited a few times.

Incidentally, Emilia’s troubles didn’t end there. The actress was covered in so much sticky fake blood in this scene that when she used the toilet, it stuck to the toilet seat!

“Gone Girl”

Rosamund Pike is clearly one of those people who takes preparing for a role extremely seriously—and if she doesn’t know how to do something, she’ll learn it. Like, say, slitting a throat. That’s what happened before filming Gone Girl. Rosamund had to perform a brutal scene with Neil Patrick Harris. And before that, the actress practiced on… a pig!

“I had no idea how much force it took to slit someone’s throat. I went to the butcher and asked if they’d mind if I just tried cutting a pig with a box cutter to see how it worked,” Pike admitted.

The actress was allowed to conduct “experiments” in the butcher’s shop, so customers that day were able to witness a unique scene: a Hollywood actress attempting to cut up a pig carcass.

Vampire’s Kiss

“I hate cockroaches more than anything in the world,” Nicolas Cage confessed to director Robert Biermann, and immediately asked, “So let me eat a cockroach.” The director appreciated the actor’s desire to step out of his comfort zone and, without thinking twice, sent his assistants into the boiler room to hunt for cockroaches.

“I really wanted to make something that would shock audiences, something you would never forget,” Cage said.

Before filming the scene, producer Barbara Zitwer consulted with a doctor to ensure Cage would have no health issues. The doctor assured him that nothing would happen, but it would be best to give Nicolas a glass of whiskey immediately after eating the cockroach.

Only two takes were done, but Nicholas actually swallowed the cockroach both times. Co-producer Barry Shiels later lied to an animal rights group and claimed the cockroaches were not harmed.

“Dengue”

Spike Lee’s 1991 film was a breakthrough for the young Halle Berry. It was a disappointing success. To get into character as the drug-addicted Vivian, Halle didn’t shower or bathe for about two weeks.

On The Rosie O’Donnell Show, the actress said, “Nobody said anything to me, but everyone kind of started keeping their distance. It was an experience. It was my attempt at method acting.”

“Friends”

While filming Friends season six, episode nine, “The One Where Ross Gets Stoned,” Matt LeBlanc accidentally ate some of David Schwimmer’s spit-out biscuit (it was actually bananas and whipped cream).

On The Graham Norton Show, Matt said, “After he said ‘stop,’ he’d spit it back onto his plate. I was sitting right next to him, but I wasn’t looking. I didn’t see him spit it out. On the next take, I picked up his plate, scraped some of the biscuit onto my plate, and started eating it… We did another take. Nobody said anything to me.”

“Office”

Actress Angela Kinsey must have had nightmares about filming romantic scenes! That’s because her on-screen boyfriend, actor Rainn Wilson, usually ate something disgusting right beforehand.

On her podcast, Office Ladies, Angela said, “And I was like, ‘Rain, for fuck’s sake. Do you have to eat a tuna sandwich right before we’re supposed to kiss?'” The actress admitted that her partner’s habits made filming kissing scenes very difficult.
