Jamie Lee Curtis, 65, looks almost unrecognizable with long gray hair while filming Freaky Friday 2

Jamie Lee Curtis, 65, surprised fans this week after being spotted on the set of Freaky Friday 2, where she appeared nearly unrecognizable thanks to a dramatic hairstyle change. The actress, best known for her signature short haircut, was seen wearing long gray hair for her role in the upcoming sequel.

Curtis was photographed stepping out of her trailer as she waited to be driven to the set. Dressed simply in black trousers and a matching black cardigan, she kept a low-key look while preparing for a day of filming.

Production on the long-awaited sequel began late last month, with the film scheduled to hit theaters in 2025. While Curtis is widely celebrated for her iconic work in the Halloween franchise, many fans also hold her role as Tess Coleman in the 2003 Disney comedy Freaky Friday close to their hearts.

Last year, Curtis spoke with The New York Times about realizing that a sequel was overdue.

“While I was traveling around the world promoting Halloween Ends, people kept asking if there would ever be another Freaky Friday,” she explained. “It clearly struck a chord. When I got home, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a story waiting to be told.’”

The 2003 movie was itself a remake of the 1976 classic and followed Tess and her teenage daughter Anna—played by Lindsay Lohan—after the two mysteriously swap bodies. Forced to live each other’s lives, the pair must find a way to reverse the spell without raising suspicion.

Co-stars reunited

Curtis won’t be returning alone. Lindsay Lohan is set to reprise her role as Anna, reuniting the beloved on-screen mother-daughter duo. Speaking to Good Morning America, Lohan said she feels “blessed” to have Curtis in her life and teased that the sequel will exceed expectations.

“It’s going to be a very freaky Friday,” she said. “Even more outrageous than people imagine.”

Lohan also reflected on her lasting bond with Curtis, noting that despite years apart, their connection never faded. “When you truly care about someone, you can go years without seeing each other, but when you reunite, it feels like no time has passed.”

Curtis returned the praise in her own interview with The New York Times, recalling how impressed she was by Lohan’s talent when they first worked together.

“Lindsay had a natural ease,” Curtis said. “If you watch The Parent Trap, you can see how skilled she was, even at such a young age. It was a huge production, but our working relationship was effortless.”

What to expect from the sequel

As excitement builds, fans are eager to learn which familiar faces will return. In addition to Curtis and Lohan, Mark Harmon is also set to reprise his role. Chad Michael Murray, who played Anna’s love interest Jake, was recently spotted on set as well.

Lohan revealed on GMA that her character will now have a daughter in the film—an on-screen development that mirrors her real life, as the actress welcomed her son Luai with husband Bader Shammas in July of last year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the body-swapping chaos will return with a twist: this time involving two teenage girls. Disney’s official synopsis describes the sequel as a multigenerational continuation of the original story.

“Years after Tess and Anna first experienced an identity crisis, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter,” the description reads. “As the family adjusts to blending their lives, Tess and Anna discover that lightning really can strike twice.”

The film is being directed by Canadian filmmaker Nisha Ganatra, bringing a fresh perspective to the beloved franchise.
