The legendary The Godfather actor passed away peacefully at his Virginia ranch on Sunday, news confirmed by his wife, Luciana Pedraza.
In a clip posted late last year on Facebook, Duvall could be seen seated in a chair, calmly completing repetitions with a dumbbell while watching a computer screen. In the caption, he explained that although he never relied on gym workouts to prepare for movie roles, he believed in maintaining a steady routine.

“I enjoy having a routine,” he wrote, noting that he preferred activities like tennis, swimming, and horseback riding to stay fit rather than traditional gym sessions. Around the same time, he also shared a short video wishing fans a Happy Thanksgiving.

Luciana announced his passing in an emotional tribute the following day. “Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time,” she wrote, adding that he died peacefully at home, surrounded by love.
“To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything,” she continued, praising not only his devotion to his craft but also his love of good food, meaningful conversation, and the people around him. She thanked fans for their support and for respecting the family’s privacy as they honor his memory.

Duvall remained active in the industry almost until the end of his life. His final on-screen appearances came in 2022 with the Netflix sports drama Hustle and the gothic mystery The Pale Blue Eye.
Over a remarkable six-decade career, he earned seven Oscar nominations and won Best Actor in 1983 for Tender Mercies. He also starred in acclaimed films including The Godfather Part II, Apocalypse Now, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Natural.

In his personal life, Duvall married Luciana — his fourth wife — in 2004 after the couple met in Buenos Aires in 1996. Speaking candidly about their age difference in an interview with The Washington Post, he once joked about meeting her father, who quipped he wasn’t sure whether to call him “father or son.”
Before Luciana, Duvall had been married to Barbara Benjamin, Gail Youngs, and Sharon Brophy. Despite his long life and multiple marriages, the acclaimed actor never had children.

Even in his final months, the image he left behind was one of quiet strength — lifting weights, keeping routine, and living life on his own steady terms.
