A couple stumbled upon an old safe and decided to open it, only to find that it was more challenging than expected—they had to use tools to pry it open. What they discovered inside was so shocking that they immediately called the police.
Matthew and Maria Colonna-Emanuel from New York had been living with the safe for years, initially thinking it was just an electrical box. But one day, after noticing a deer sniffing around it, they realized it was something far more intriguing. They decided to open it, and after some effort with heavy tools, their discovery left them stunned.
Inside the safe, they found a note with an address, which led them to their neighbor. When Matthew asked the neighbor about it, he learned that the man had been robbed on Christmas 2011. The only item stolen during the break-in was a safe, which contained valuables worth around $52,000.
After eight years, the stolen jewelry was finally returned to its rightful owner. The couple was shocked by the turn of events and felt no temptation to keep what they had found, knowing it wasn’t theirs to keep.
