JD Vance is a well-known figure, especially after he became vice president in the Donald Trump administration. However, Vance was recognized even before that — his political career began in 2013, when he began working as an aid to a senator. For 12 years, he explored various fields of activity, worked in the legal system, was involved in venture investments and even addressed the problem of drug addiction among the population.

For those unfamiliar with politics, JD Vance is also known for his 2016 book, Hillbilly Elegy, in which he recounted his difficult childhood, marked by poverty, physical abuse, and his mother’s drug addiction. His childhood was far from happy, as his father, Donald Bowman, left the family when Vance was very young.

He was raised by his mother, grandmother, and several stepfathers. His mother, Beverly Akins, was married five times, and her third husband, Bob Hamel, adopted Vance, changing his last name. Beverly wanted to erase all traces of Vance’s biological father, even choosing a new middle name for him to keep the “D” in his initials.

Vance credits his grandmother with helping him become the man he is today, as her love and stability allowed him to finish school and pursue higher education. He maintained contact with his mother, who eventually overcame her addiction.

What the future holds for JD Vance remains unclear, but some political analysts believe he could become the next US president after Donald Trump.
