A girl who was missing for six years has finally been found.

Kayla’s abrupt departure at the age of nine devastated her father and turned his life upside down. The lost child was recovered today, at the age of 15, despite all odds, and her story gave us goosebumps.

Kayla was gone overnight.

Kayla was taken away in 2017 by her noncustodial mother, Heather Unbehaun.

Kayla’s devastated father, Ryan, revealed in an interview two years after her abduction that the mother ”was to have every other weekend” with his daughter.

Ryan recalls Heather having her the weekend before the Fourth of July, which I believe fell on a Tuesday. That was also her holiday. So Ryan recommended that Kayla stay with her mother from Monday to Tuesday, and then he pick her up on Wednesday.

When Ryan arrived on Wednesday to pick up his daughter, he was informed by the Unbehaun family that the mother and daughter had not returned from their camping vacation.

She’s back safe and sound.

An individual identified Kayla at a shopping center and the teenager was brought back home to her father, six years after she went missing. The mother, who is 40, is now held by the police.

The smiling father tweeted that he is ”overjoyed” that his daughter is “home safe.” He also thanked the Bring Kayla Home Facebook page’s fans for keeping their story alive.

Finally, the father stated, ”We ask for privacy while we reconnect and navigate this new beginning.”
