Converting an unused garage into additional living space can be a smart housing solution.

Martin Brown, who lives in Portland, Oregon, decided to convert his garage into a cozy home for his mother-in-law so she could be close to her grandson without having to build a new space.

Despite its size, it has been cleverly designed with all the necessary rooms. There is a comfortable sofa bed, a fireplace, a well-equipped kitchen, a loft bedroom with a skylight and a compact bathroom.

The design prioritizes light, with a glass door and skylights creating a sense of spaciousness. Retaining elements of the original 1920s garage, such as the concrete floor and old rebar, adds a rustic touch.

This creative cabin provides warm and functional living space, offering an inspiring alternative for family living.
