Beyonce Cowboy Carter gig stampede: Fans hurt during escalator crush in Atlanta

Fans of famous singer Beyonce have been gravely hurt following a horrifying rush on an escalator prompted by a young girl’s phobia of insects.

As hundreds exited the Cowboy Carter act at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in the early hours of Tuesday, July 15, a sudden rush of terror resulted in a mass casualty incident.

“Just after midnight, 11 people leaving Beyoncé’s concert at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta were injured on an escalator at Vine City Station,” Stephany Fisher, senior director of communications for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), told persons.

“One individual broke their ankle, seven were sent to the hospital with cuts and scrapes, and one denied transport. “After arriving at their destinations, two people requested medical assistance.”

“A person began screaming and running, causing a stampede on the escalator that caused it to temporarily speed up and then stop suddenly,” Mrs. Fisher explained.

MARTA police chief Scott Kreher said that a 10-year-old girl became terrified after witnessing a cockroach and began screaming and running.

Acting MARTA CEO Rhonda Allen informed the board that “someone began to scream outside the station.” She was scared by a bug outside, away from the enormous crowd,” 11Alive said.

“MARTA Police on the scene reported a scream, and witnesses indicated the person who shouted was reacting to a bug. I believe there is also a video on TikTok of a woman claiming to be a 10-year-old relative who screamed when she saw an insect,” Ms Fisher said.

Images from the frightening incident show the crammed escalator pressing ahead, producing a rush that tipped people over.

“It just created a whole entire slide full of people,” explained student Jacobi Edwards to Fox 5.

“It just started tumbling – people tumbling into each other. “It was crazy, chaotic.”

Some concertgoers say on social media that the escalator malfunctioned, and local news sites report that an inspection certificate shown on the escalator expires next month.

Schindler, the escalator maker, issued a statement saying, “We are aware of the incident that occurred following the conclusion of a nearby concert on an escalator at Vine City Station, stemming from a sudden crowd surge/stampede.”

“We sympathize with the people that were wounded. We take the safety of the riding public very seriously and are dedicated to working collaboratively with MARTA, Vine City Station personnel, and local authorities to thoroughly investigate and establish the cause of the event.

“At this time, we have no verified information as to the cause and it would be inappropriate to speculate.”
