Morgan Hartman was born with physical and cognitive abnormalities that prevented her from experiencing the world as other children do. Gordon, Morgan’s father, noticed Morgan anxious to join the other kids in a hotel pool in 2006, but she was met with doubt and reluctance. This incident launched a path that led to the establishment of Morgan’s Wonderland, a theme park designed particularly for people with special needs. A place where children, regardless of aptitude, could connect, play, and learn from one another.
Gordon Hartman thought of a park where accessibility wasn’t just a luxury—it was a given.

He decided that this would be a location where all children could have fun, regardless of their physical or cognitive skills.
Gordon wasn’t only thinking about his daughter. He was thinking about the thousands of families with impaired children who face similar challenges. How did he respond? To sell everything he had and put his entire savings towards creating something that would bring delight to these people.

Located in San Antonio, Texas, Morgan’s Wonderland opened its doors in 2010.

Unlike most theme parks, Morgan’s Wonderland was constructed with diversity in mind, so no one feels excluded. The ground is covered in soft, safe materials, the paths are wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs, and the rides are specifically intended for children with disabilities.
Specially developed rides are one of the park’s distinguishing qualities. For example, the Sensory Village provides a sensory-friendly atmosphere in which children may engage in creative activities such as playing with water and sand. The park also has a totally wheelchair-accessible carousel, and its sensory-friendly cinema provides a secure environment for families to watch movies together.
A particularly uplifting aspect of the park is its commitment to provide free entry to people with disabilities.
In 2017, the park expanded with the opening of Morgan’s Inspiration Island, a water park designed to be fully accessible for those with physical disabilities.

The expansion reaffirmed the park’s dedication to create a world in which everyone may participate, regardless of their abilities.
Morgan’s Inspiration Island includes aquatic attractions such as a fully wheelchair-accessible riverboat ride, as well as cooling zones that provide a refreshing break for all tourists, particularly those with special needs. It was constructed with thoughtful aspects to guarantee that everyone can enjoy the water without barriers, including specially designed waterproof wheelchairs that visitors can use throughout the park.
The park also includes a sensory area with calming lights, noises, and other sensory features to assist youngsters with autism or sensory processing issues.
Visitors to the park have shared their stories of how it’s given them a sense of belonging and community that they’ve never experienced before.

Gordon’s founding motto was, “Together, we CAN make a difference!” Today, after numerous triumphs and many more to come, his mantra has evolved to: “Together, we ARE making a difference!”
Gordon created this park not only as a theme park, but also as a community, a place where everyone belongs. It illustrates the power of love and dedication.
