The story of Ritaj and Rital is a powerful example of courage, hope and determination.
These conjoined twins, born with their heads joined, defied all odds to survive, successfully undergoing an unprecedented separation surgery in 2011. Originally from Sudan, they had to fight a cruel fate from birth.
But thanks to the unwavering love of their parents and the skill of surgeon outstandings, they overcame the impossible.
Today, these two young girls, after facing countless difficulties, live full and happy lives full of opportunities.

Ritaj and Rital were born in August 2011 with a rare condition called craniopagus, which meant they shared a skull and circulatory system but had separate brains.
Doctors gave little hope, estimating the chances of survival for conjoined twins at only 28%, as they often do not survive pregnancy or die shortly after birth.

In 2016, the family moved to Ireland to provide specialist medical care for Rital, who has autism.
The girls’ father quickly began raising funds, receiving the help he needed through the organization Facing The World.
The cost of the operation was £400,000.

Due to the rapid deterioration of Ritaj’s condition, the separation operation had to be performed on an emergency basis.
After months of preparation, surgeons separated their skulls in a complex operation that cut the blood vessels that connected them. Both girls emerged from the operation without serious consequences.

Today, at the age of 13, Ritaj and Rital lead full and happy lives. Their journey, as told by their parents, is a model of resilience and a tribute to human strength in the face of adversity.
