Every Tuesday, Greg Smith has lunch with a homeless woman named Amy. What started as a simple act of kindness turned into something that would change both their lives forever.

Greg first noticed Amy standing on a corner in downtown Orlando. Unlike others, she never asked for money — only smiled and said, “Good morning, sir. Have a great day. God bless!” Her positivity caught his attention, and soon, weekly lunches became their tradition.

During one of these meetings, Amy revealed a secret that left Greg speechless — she couldn’t read. 😢 She told him she spent what little money she had not on food, but on renting books from the library, trying to teach herself.

Greg was moved beyond words. From that day on, he not only shared meals with Amy but also began teaching her to read. Together, they started going through one book a week, turning every Tuesday lunch into a small lesson of hope.

Greg later shared their story online — not for attention, but to inspire others to look around and see how even a simple act of compassion can change a life.

“There are many people like Amy Joe,” Greg wrote. “Sometimes all it takes is a smile or a moment of kindness to make a difference.” ❤️
