The parents were touched every day as they watched their dog and three-month-old son grow closer and closer to each other.
From the very day they brought the baby home from the hospital, the dog seemed to sense that someone had arrived in the house who needed to be cherished more than anything else. He would carefully approach the crib, rest his muzzle on the side, and quietly watch the baby sleep.
Over time, a genuine bond developed between them. The baby laughed when the dog wagged its tail or licked his hand, and the dog, as if feeling responsible, was always nearby.
Over time, the parents began to notice that their child calmed down only in the dog’s presence. They spent almost the entire day together—playing, crawling on the carpet, and by evening, they’d fall asleep in the same crib, cuddled together.
It was so touching that the parents couldn’t help but smile and often filmed them. In their eyes, it was pure friendship, full of tenderness and trust. It seemed as if their dog had become a second nanny for the little one, a true protector.
But one evening, everything changed. The parents, as usual, heard quiet snoring coming from the nursery and decided to peek in to check if their beloved pets were asleep. When they opened the nursery door, they were horrified by what they saw.
When they opened the door, the mother’s heart sank – the child lay motionless, his lips were blue, his breathing was barely noticeable, and red spots appeared on his skin.
The dog, not understanding what was happening, restlessly poked his nose at the baby, trying to wake him up.
The father panicked and called an ambulance, while the mother held her son close, praying for him to breathe. Paramedics arrived within minutes.
They immediately began providing assistance and, after examining the baby, broke the devastating news to the parents: the child had a severe allergic reaction to dog fur. A few minutes of delay could have cost him his life.
The parents were devastated. They couldn’t believe that the one they considered their kindest and most trusted friend had unwittingly become the cause of such disaster. The dog sat by the door and whined, as if he knew they were going to take him away.
The decision was painful, but the only right one – the dog had to be given to the husband’s parents, where she had a spacious yard.
Parents realized that sometimes even the purest love between a child and an animal can turn into danger.
