I was taking a leisurely stroll through the forest, as I often do when I need to clear my head.
Walking among the trees, listening to the rustling of leaves and smelling the damp earth – all this always helps me find inner peace. But this walk was not like usual. It changed a lot.
The morning was quiet, everything seemed ordinary… until my gaze caught on something strange at the edge of the path. There were some small yellow balls lying on the ground.
Their bright color stood out against the fallen leaves, and at first I thought they were unusual mushrooms… or maybe children’s toys that someone had accidentally left behind.
Curiosity made me come closer.
And the closer I got, the more clearly I noticed: these “mushrooms” were moving. And… squeaking.
And then I realized: in front of me were newly hatched chicks.
Tiny, fragile, huddled together, some still half-shelled, they were shivering, probably from the cold, and making weak, plaintive sounds.
I was dumbfounded by what I saw.
It was obvious that they had been abandoned here, in the middle of the forest, completely defenseless.
I immediately called the animal shelter. Fortunately, help arrived quite quickly. Together, we carefully collected the chicks, trying not to harm them.
Many of them, fortunately, were still alive. They were immediately taken to a warm and safe place.
Later I was informed that most of the babies were recovering and would soon be handed over to the caring hands of those who were ready to take care of them.
I never found out who left them.
But this incident touched me deeply. It reminded me how one single gesture, one thoughtful action, can change someone’s destiny.
Sometimes the most ordinary walk becomes a real lesson in humanity.
