With his 100th birthday just around the corner, Dick Van Dyke continues to prove that vitality has no age limit. The Mary Poppins legend remains active and energetic, and earlier this year he shared the secret behind his long, healthy life.
Though he rarely appears in public, a recent photo of the beloved comedian and actor surfaced on social media—and fans couldn’t stop talking about how incredible he looks.
Set to celebrate his centennial in December, Van Dyke has built a remarkable career as a television host, actor, writer, and entertainer. When asked what keeps him thriving, he credits his decades-long workout routine.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in January, he explained: “Somebody asked me what I attribute my age and condition to. I said I’ve always exercised three days a week. We still go to the gym three days a week, and I think that’s it.”
Van Dyke described how his sessions resemble circuit training, moving between machines with dance-like steps. After a workout, he often swims laps and then rewards himself with a restorative nap.
Now, as he nears triple digits, he’s preparing to release a new book, 100 Rules for Living to 100: An Optimist’s Guide to a Happy Life—a collection of wisdom, stories, and reflections from his decades in Hollywood.

The newest glimpse of Van Dyke came thanks to musician Rick Springfield, who posted an Instagram photo of the two at a Malibu gym. “Filming an episode of Men’s Health and who should be there but 99-year-old Dick Van Dyke working out on every machine,” Springfield wrote. “I thought I was doing well at 76, but Dick got up from the chest press and did a little dance step before I left! Amazing!”
Even at 99, Van Dyke continues to inspire with his energy, optimism, and unstoppable spirit.
